This marks the first Woodwater release to incorporate a bourbon-matured component — and what a pleasure it has been to explore.

The composition brings together Apera that was double matured, extended in a luscious Dutschke PX cask, and married with rich, buttery bourbon-matured whisky. The interplay between these elements creates both depth and contrast.

The intention behind this release was to craft something more approachable for the discerning palate, while presenting a completely fresh tonal direction for a Woodwater Whisky.

Tasting Notes

Nose: A pleasing balance of brightness and depth. Glacé cherry and baked raisin lead, supported by soft fruit aromatics, before giving way to polished mahogany and a faint whiff of fresh varnish.

Palate: Stone fruits — apricot and nectarine — emerge first, followed by a wave of caramel through the mid-palate. A gentle thread of orange rind and spice weaves through, finishing with a puckering grip along the gums.

Finish: Warming at first, then gradually settling. Light chocolate malt biscuits appear alongside sweet yet tart wild berries, before a clean oak note carries the back end.

Rich, balanced, and inviting.

It has been our experience that they showcase their profiles, aromas and drink best around and above room temperature (between 18-23°C).

These whiskies deserve TIME, PATIENCE, and WARMTH in your glass.
