This whisky carries a remarkable and unexpected story.

It began life as my 2025 World Whiskies Awards category-winning Single Cask NAS Single Malt, matured in a Shiraz cask. Following its success, the whisky developed bottle shock in the glass — an uncharacteristic heat and imbalance that broke its harmony. Despite the accolade, I made the difficult decision to withhold it from release.

After months of close monitoring and unsuccessful attempts to restore balance, it became clear the spirit needed more than time. It was re-casked into a first-fill ex-Barossa Tokay cask for a second maturation, allowing it to evolve into something new while preserving its origins.

The original award-winning whisky was never released. What you hold today is its final, transformed expression — richer, more nuanced, and shaped by challenge, patience, and thoughtful craftsmanship.

This is the true final chapter of its journey.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep ruby.

Nose: Bright red berry compote leads, supported by notes of Black Forest cake. A gentle malted cereal character sits underneath, becoming more apparent with time in the glass.

Palate: Medium-bodied that opens with a syrupy sweetness layered with fresh berries and a touch of light treacle. A warmth spreads across the tongue and gums before fading, unveiling a delicate spice and a whisper of cigar tobacco.

Finish: Moderately long and drying with a nod to Shiraz-like tannins and a lingering note of soft fruit candy.

It has been our experience that they showcase their profiles, aromas and drink best around and above room temperature (between 18-23°C).

These whiskies deserve TIME, PATIENCE, and WARMTH in your glass.
